Basement Space Hire – Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all individuals, organisations and businesses hiring the basement space at Dar Al Taqwa.

By making payment for a booking, the hirer confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to all the Terms & Conditions outlined below.

1. Use of the Space

  • The basement is available for pre-agreed activities, including educational classes, workshops, talks, dhikrs, lectures and community events.

  • The space must only be used for the purpose specified at the time of booking.

  • The hirer must not sublet, transfer or allow another party to use the space without prior written permission from Dar Al Taqwa.

  • The hirer is responsible for ensuring that all attendees behave respectfully and appropriately while on the premises.

2. Cleaning & Condition of the Space

  • The basement must be left in the same condition in which it was found.

  • Hirers are responsible for cleaning the space thoroughly after each booking.

  • All tables, chairs and furniture must be returned to their original positions after use.

  • Floors must be left clean, and all surfaces wiped down where necessary.

  • No rubbish, food, drink containers, decorations or personal belongings may be left behind.

  • All rubbish must be removed from the premises by the hirer.

  • The space must be vacated by the agreed booking end time, including any setup and clearing away.

3. Damages & Loss

  • The hirer is responsible for any damage caused to the premises, furniture, fixtures, fittings or equipment during the booking.

  • Any damage, breakages or loss of property must be reported to Dar Al Taqwa immediately.

  • The cost of repairing or replacing damaged or missing items will be charged to the hirer.

  • Dar Al Taqwa reserves the right to deduct reasonable costs from any security deposit held, or invoice the hirer separately where necessary.

4. Furniture & Equipment

  • Furniture and equipment must be used responsibly and returned to their original positions after use.

  • No furniture, equipment or other property belonging to Dar Al Taqwa may be removed from the premises without prior permission.

  • Any additional equipment or facilities required must be agreed in advance.

5. Booking Times & Access

  • Hirers must adhere to their agreed booking times.

  • Any additional time required for setup or clearing away must be included in the booking.

  • Any extension must be agreed with Dar Al Taqwa in advance and may incur additional charges.

  • The hirer must ensure that all attendees leave the premises by the agreed finishing time.

6. Health, Safety & Security

  • The hirer is responsible for the conduct and supervision of their attendees throughout the booking.

  • All fire exits and access routes must remain clear at all times.

  • The maximum permitted capacity of the basement must not be exceeded. (20)

  • No smoking, vaping or illegal substances are permitted anywhere on the premises.

  • Any accidents, injuries or safety concerns must be reported to Dar Al Taqwa immediately.

7. Cancellation & Payments

  • All bookings must be confirmed by Dar Al Taqwa before the space can be used.

  • Hire fees must be paid in accordance with the agreed booking arrangements.

  • Hire fee is £50 per hour.

  • Cancellation terms will be communicated at the time of booking.

  • Any additional cleaning, damage or costs resulting from the hire may be charged separately.

8. Right to Refuse or Terminate a Booking

Dar Al Taqwa reserves the right to refuse, cancel or terminate a booking if these Terms & Conditions are breached, or if the space is being used in a manner that is inappropriate, unsafe or inconsistent with the agreed purpose.

9. Agreement & Acceptance of Terms

By making payment for the hire of the Dar Al Taqwa basement, the hirer confirms that they have read, understood and fully agreed to all the Terms & Conditions outlined in this document.

Payment of the hire fee constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

The hirer agrees to take full responsibility for complying with these conditions throughout the booking and ensuring that all attendees using the premises also adhere to them.

These Terms & Conditions form part of the booking agreement between Dar Al Taqwa and the hirer.
