He then studied Islam under traditional teachers at Al-Azhar, one of the oldest universities in the world. He went on to reside in Jeddah, where he administered a commercial translation office and maintained close contact with Habib Ahmad Mashhur al-Haddad and other ulama from Hadramaut, Yemen.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eHe is the Dean of the Cambridge Muslim College, Professor of Islamic Studies at both Cambridge Muslim College and Ebrahim College, Director of  Theology and Religious Studies at Wolfson College and Lecturer in Islamic Studies at University of Cambridge.
